NPWS leads successful wildlife crime operation in Limerick

A multi-agency operation between the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS), An Garda Síochána (AGS), the NSPCA (National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), and Limerick Dog Warden Services took place in Limerick City on 27th May.
The operation targeted the illegal trapping and possession of wild birds. A premises was searched in the city and one Bullfinch (Pyrrhula pyrrhula) was surrendered as part of the operation. Investigations are ongoing. All wild birds are protected by law (under the Wildlife Acts 1976 as amended). NPWS would ask the public to remain vigilant and report any suspected wildlife crimes.
